About Fang

Hello!
I am an experienced Chinese teacher based in Melbourne, currently teaching both children and adults.

On weekends, I run two group classes — one for Year 5 students and another for children aged 4–8. I also teach three adult learners and two private students aged 4 and 8 during weekdays.

I started teaching because I genuinely enjoy seeing people grow. There is something very special about watching a student go from feeling unsure to speaking with confidence. That moment — when they realise “I can actually do this” — is why I love teaching.

Over time, I’ve learned that many students don’t lack ability — they lack confidence. Some adults have learned through apps for years but still hesitate to speak. Some children are shy at first. My role is to guide them step by step, creating a safe and encouraging space where they feel comfortable trying, making mistakes, and improving.

For me, teaching Chinese is not just about vocabulary or grammar. It’s more about helping students feel capable and confident.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured but relaxed.

I focus on helping students understand clearly and practise speaking in a natural way. Confidence grows when students feel supported and see their own progress.

For adults, I include practical conversation in every lesson. We work on pronunciation, sentence patterns, and real-life situations so they can actually use Chinese outside the classroom.

For children, I keep lessons interactive and age-appropriate. Younger learners need movement, repetition and encouragement. Older students benefit from clearer structure and small challenges that help them grow steadily.

I always adjust my teaching style depending on the student. Everyone learns differently, and I respect that.

My goal is simple: steady progress and real confidence

Perfect! Fang is absolutely amazing

The older sister shows a strong interest in learning Chinese. She reads very fluently, demonstrates a solid understanding of the texts, and expresses herself well in spoken Chinese. At the moment, she needs to reinforce Chinese character writing, as some characters are easily forgotten without regular practice. It would also be beneficial for her to further expand her vocabulary and increase her exposure to extracurricular reading.

The younger sister has excellent speaking skills, learns pinyin very quickly, and shows strong overall learning ability.

Both sisters are attentive and engaged during lessons, and it is a pleasure teaching them. It is truly a joy to teach them. I am looking forward to seeing them continue to make progress.
