I have been learning German for quite some time. I obtained a German language certification from Goethe-Institut, an internationally recognised organisation that tests German language skills in the four essential areas - reading, writing, listening and speaking. Practicality is important for me. I believe that being able to use the language from the beginning is important. But I also believe that some foundation in grammar can go a long way in using the language more confidently. I also believe in the significance of contextual interpretation. Since it is not possible to know every word in any language, it becomes necessary to be able to understand meaning based on previous information and one's limited vocabulary. This allows for a much wider range of comprehension, thus allowing you to cope in any situation.
