About Ritsuko

Hello, my name is Ritsuko. I am a certified native Japanese teacher from Japan currently living in Hastings, New Zealand.

I have experience teaching Japanese at Japanese language schools in Vietnam and Malaysia. I have also taught online for Japanese language schools in Japan, Nepal, and Indonesia. Currently, I teach private Japanese lessons online. Through these experiences, I have worked with students from many different cultural backgrounds and learning levels.

In my lessons, I use well-known textbooks such as Genki and Minna no Nihongo to help students build a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, conversation, and listening skills step by step. I always try to create lessons that are practical, easy to understand, and enjoyable.

I also specialize in practical travel Japanese and real-life conversation practice. Students can learn useful Japanese expressions for restaurants, shopping, transportation, hotels, and everyday situations in Japan.

I understand that learning a new language can feel difficult at first, so I create a relaxed and supportive learning environment where students can feel comfortable speaking and making mistakes with confidence.

My lessons are suitable for beginners to intermediate learners, adults, travelers, and students preparing to study or work in Japan.

About the lesson

In my lessons, we study basic Japanese step by step using popular textbooks such as Genki and Minna no Nihongo. I focus on building a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and listening so students can gain confidence naturally.

I also specialize in practical travel Japanese. We practice real-life situations such as ordering food at restaurants, shopping, asking for directions, using transportation, and communicating at hotels and airports. My goal is to help students use Japanese comfortably in real situations.

My lessons are suitable for beginners to intermediate learners, including adults, travelers, and students preparing for life or work in Japan. I create a relaxed and supportive learning environment and adjust the lesson pace to each student’s level and goals.
