About Carolina

I am a native of Spain and experienced Spanish teacher certified by the state of Florida (US) to teach grades K-12 with an M.A. in comparative literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have extensive classroom teaching experience in both high school and college levels, and have tutored students of all ages. Although originally from Alicante, Spain, I have lived in Miami over 40 years. Despite the distance, I continue to visit frequently. Living in Miami, I am very familiar with, not only Spanish from Spain, but also Spanish from various parts of Latin America. This gives me a unique advantage over other Spanish teachers. I also have extensive professional experience working in real estate, construction, TV production, and the Latin music industry in Miami, where English and Spanish are used interchangeably. I am a translator as well, and am currently completing court interpreter certification.

About the lesson

I love to communicate and teach others my language and the richness of my culture in a manner that is interesting, accessible, and fun. I custom create the content of my classes around your interests to get you where you want to be quickly and effectively. After learning more about your Spanish learning goals, I will develop a specialized curriculum for you to help you meet your language needs. Whether you are looking for self-enrichment classes, tutoring for school, preparing for a trip, or trying to communicate with business associates, if it's in Spanish, I can help you get there.

Carolina really cares about her students. She finds their strengths and helps them find avenues to use them. She shows them how to overcome their weaknesses with motivation and positive feedback. She has tutored my daughter in Spanish for many years. My daughter started off very nervous to speak the language out loud. Carolina provided a safe, nonjudgmental space for my daughter to grow her Spanish speaking skills.

I'm a professional Spanish interpreter and translator and Carolina has been my go-to Spanish language expert for years. I consult with her whenever I'm stuck on sentence structure, accent usage or just grammar in general. I would highly recommend her for all your Spanish language needs!
