About Lisa
As an educator with 21 years of middle and high school classroom experience and a Specialist Degree in Math Education, my mission is to make math accessible and stress-free for every learner. Throughout my career in special education, I have supported hundreds of students with ADHD, dyscalculia, IEPs, and 504 plans who felt left behind by standard teaching methods. I bring deep patience, professional expertise, and proven instructional strategies to every session. What sets me apart from a standard math tutor is my 21 years in the classroom specifically as a Special Education Math Teacher. Holding a Specialist Degree in Math Education, my true expertise lies in translating complex math concepts for middle and high school students with ADHD, dyscalculia, IEPs, and 504 plans. I understand that traditional math classes don't work for everyone.
My lessons are designed for students who feel overwhelmed, experience math anxiety, or have been left behind by standard pacing. I use specialized, highly scaffolded techniques—breaking down overwhelming equations into simple, visual chunks to reduce cognitive overload and working memory strain.
A typical session starts with a low-stress warm-up to build immediate confidence. Next, we move into targeted instruction where I introduce concepts using specialized visual strategies tailored to your student's exact accommodations. We spend the bulk of our time in guided practice—working side-by-side with immediate feedback so mistakes become learning opportunities, not points of frustration. We end with a quick check for understanding. My ultimate goal is to transform math anxiety into math confidence, honoring exactly how your student's brain works.
