About Gayani
My name is Gayani Dewundara, and I am a dedicated educator specializing in History and Social Studies with over 10 years of full-time teaching experience at both middle and high school levels. Throughout my career, I have helped students succeed across a wide range of curricula, including AP History, Cambridge, Edexcel, and IB programs, consistently leading them to achieve outstanding academic results. Many of my students have gone on to earn top marks in national and international exams, thanks to a structured, engaging, and student-focused teaching style. I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in International Studies, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, a Master’s degree in Leadership in Education, and a diploma in Curriculum and Instructional Studies (ongoing at UBC). If you're looking for a tutor who can build your confidence, explain complex concepts clearly, and help you truly excel in History or Social Studies, I would be thrilled to work with you! Let’s reach your academic goals together!

My lessons are thoughtfully planned and tailored to meet each student’s unique needs and goals. I focus on creating structured, engaging sessions that make even the most challenging History and Social Studies topics easy to understand. Whether you're preparing for AP, IB, Cambridge, or school-level exams, I offer a balanced approach that combines concept clarity, critical thinking development, and exam-focused practice.
Also, I have extensive experience working with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with ASD, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other exceptionalities. I apply a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach and use strength-based strategies to make content accessible for all learners. I also have experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Positive Behaviour Support Plans, and incorporating assistive technologies to support success.

I have known Gayani for years and have got many tutoring lessons from her. She is very knowledgeable on what she teaches. I have had many questions and doubts regarding the subject matter to which she has always listened and clarified. She has been very respectful, kind and supportive. She’s one of the best tutors Ive had.
