About Louisa
With 6 years of teaching experience across McGill University affiliated programs and online platforms, I've guided over 1000 students to success, proudly earning 217+ 5-star reviews on Outschool. I founded the Chesslingo Academy organization to share my passion and support young learners. I specialize in helping beginner and intermediate chess players (especially kids) build a strong foundation and strategic thinking with patient, engaging guidance. As a former competitive player who represented Canada in the World Youth Championship, I love sharing my passion for the game. For serious players, I've even partnered with our International Chess Master Olivier Kenta to develop advanced curricula.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in my background in child development and education research, emphasizing a student-centered, engaging, and highly personalized approach. I believe that true learning flourishes when students feel understood, supported, and challenged in a positive environment. My goal is not just to impart knowledge, but to ignite curiosity, build problem-solving skills, and nurture intrinsic motivation to foster a lifelong love for learning.
We typically start the first lesson to get know one another, evaluating your chess level and playing a game. The second half of the class is dedicated to a game analysis/review and coming up with a study plan together.
