About Carla
Im a Civil Engineer with great passion for teaching. I learnt how to play chess at the age of 5 years old and never stopped from that point onwards. During my childhood chess took an important place in my life, being my first interest, it allowed me to compete across Uruguay, as well as internationally. Before moving to Melbourne, I was part of a chess teaching program encouraged by the Ministry of Education and Culture in my country. I would carry out different playful activities related to chess, aiming at creating a space where playing and sharing had sensitive effects on children, provoking changes with those participating in the activity.

My teaching method is based on enjoying the time we are sharing. Im used to teaching children from all different backgrounds, therefore, the proposal is based on an inclusive dynamic, with simple games in which you don’t need to know all the rules of chess, making it easier to learn the game. Importantly it is designed to awaken and enhance an interest in the game as well as having fun.
