About I-Ting

I am a postgraduate student at the University of Nottingham, studying computer science. I would like to teach Mandarin speaking and writing, including calligraphy. However, I am open to any teaching opportunities. If you want to improve your language skills, I would love to help.

I am fluent in English, and my native language is Mandarin, making me an ideal choice for those who want to learn Mandarin. Additionally, I have learned traditional Chinese characters, which are more complex and, in my opinion, more aesthetically pleasing than simplified Chinese, which I am also familiar with.

My name is I Ting (which sounds like "eating"), and I am a Mandarin Chinese teacher based in Nottingham, UK. I've recently started working as a freelance tutor, but my teaching journey began back in 2019 when I was a freshman. At that time, I taught younger generations various subjects, including Mandarin and English.

These days, I am excited to meet people from different backgrounds in this country, learn more about the local culture, and help you embark on your journey to learning a second language. I love hearing people’s stories, exploring our similarities and differences, and discovering aspects of Chinese history and culture that intrigue my clients even more than they do me. I also enjoy encouraging my students by sharing the struggles and embarrassing moments from my own experience learning English.

Moreover, given the high cost of living in the UK and the fact that I am self-funding my education, I am eager to connect with you and share our learning experiences.

About the lesson

I provide Mandarin tutoring to clients of all levels and backgrounds online. My lessons are highly tailored to each client’s interests, learning style, and goals. I strive to make language learning interactive, practical, and enjoyable, focusing on teaching Mandarin as a skill rather than just knowledge.

I welcome people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. No matter your reason for learning Mandarin, I would love to help you on your journey.
