About Pierre
With 50 years of experience teaching across six countries, I am a dedicated professional and a graduate of the prestigious École Nationale d’Équitation (ENE) in Saumur, France. While my foundation at Saumur was invaluable, I felt a deep need to expand my horizons upon graduation. I chose to leave France and travel the world, immersing myself in diverse equestrian cultures and training systems. This journey allowed me to refine my skills and develop a versatile, "bridge" approach that blends classical rigor with the realities of modern dressage.
My career is defined by a commitment to the French classical tradition—a philosophy that prizes harmony, lightness, and the well-being of the horse above all else. Whether you ride a warmblood or any other breed, I provide a patient, non-judgmental environment where you can develop a deep, partnership-based connection with your horse.

My Approach as a Tutor
My teaching is rooted in the French Classical tradition, specifically the principles of the Cadre Noir de Saumur, where I earned my qualifications. However, my approach is not about rigid dogma; it is about the bridge between tradition and the modern horse.
I believe that the horse is our partner, not a machine. My method prioritizes the horse’s physical and mental well-being first. I teach riders to develop a "fine-tuned" feel—an ability to listen to the horse and adjust their aids to be as subtle as possible. My goal is for you to leave a session feeling more connected to your horse and empowered by your own progress, rather than pressured by perfection.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Since my lessons are remote, we use a structured flow to maximize our time together:
1) Check-in & Goal Setting: We begin with a brief conversation about your current focus and any specific challenges you’ve felt since our last session.
2) Warm-Up & Observation: I observe your initial walk and trot work. During this time, I assess your horse’s relaxation, your position, and the overall "conversation" between the two of you.
3) Core Development: We break down complex movements into smaller, achievable parts. Whether we are focusing on your seat, the horse’s lateral suppleness, or quality of transitions, I help you isolate one skill at a time so it becomes "muscle memory."
4) Reflection & Homework: We end with a summary of what "clicked." I provide clear, actionable exercises you can practice independently before our next call, ensuring you always have a plan.
What Sets Me Apart
A "Bridge" Perspective: Having taught in six countries, I have a diverse "toolbox." If a standard technique doesn't work for you, I have five others to try. I adapt the classical method to your horse's breed and personality.
Pedagogical Depth: I am not just a rider; I am a teacher. I prioritize explaining why we do things, which builds your confidence and makes you a better rider long after the lesson ends.
Patience & Empathy: I know that learning can be frustrating. I bring a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental atmosphere to every lesson. I prioritize your confidence as much as your technical skill.
Who These Lessons Are For:
My lessons are for riders of all levels, from those focusing on foundational balance to those refining Grand Prix movements. I welcome all breeds of horses—dressage is for every horse, not just elite warmbloods.
If you are an adult amateur who wants to improve your technical knowledge, build a more harmonious relationship with your horse, or simply understand the "classical" way of working, you will find a dedicated and patient mentor in me. Whether you ride at home, at a local stable, or train for the show ring, my goal is to help you enjoy the journey of dressage.
