About Sanaa

I am a dedicated guitarist with seven years of playing experience and four years of formal study with my guitar teacher, Dr. Natasha Klasnic-Loncar. Throughout my musical education, I have challenged myself to grow as both a performer and a musician.

I have participated in All-County Guitar for multiple years, beginning in middle school, and have received multiple guitar awards for my performances. When I transferred to high school, I was able to skip a guitar class and move directly into the advanced level. I have also had the opportunity to perform guitar in Washington, D.C., as part of the World Cultural Festival, as well as perform with All-County Guitar.

As a tutor, I want to make learning guitar both productive and enjoyable. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to their experience, interests, and goals. Whether a student is picking up a guitar for the first time or wants to improve their technique and prepare for an audition or performance, I aim to create a supportive environment where they can build confidence and make steady progress.

I bring my experience as both a student and performer into every lesson, and I am excited to help other students discover their own passion for guitar.

My Teaching Method and Techniques

My teaching approach is centered around building strong fundamentals while helping students develop confidence, musicality, and an enjoyment of playing guitar. I adapt lessons to each student’s goals and experience level rather than using the exact same approach for everyone.

I focus on proper technique, rhythm, music reading, chord knowledge, scales, and musical expression. I also incorporate songs and pieces that are appropriate for the student’s interests and ability, because I believe students learn best when they are genuinely excited about what they are playing. For more advanced students, I can focus on performance preparation, developing musical interpretation, improving technique, and preparing for auditions or competitions.

A Typical Lesson

A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up and review of material from the previous lesson. We then work on technical skills such as scales, chords, rhythm, or exercises before moving on to the student’s current pieces or songs.

During the main part of the lesson, I break difficult sections into smaller, manageable parts and work with the student on accuracy, technique, timing, and musical expression. We finish by reviewing what was accomplished and establishing specific goals to work on before the next lesson.

Lessons can be adjusted depending on the student’s level and goals. A beginner may spend more time learning fundamental technique and basic chords, while an advanced student may spend more time on performance skills, repertoire, and refining difficult passages.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor

I have played guitar for seven years and have had four years of formal study with my guitar teacher, Dr. Natasha Klasnic-Loncar. My experience includes both individual instruction and performing in competitive and large ensemble settings.

When I transferred to high school, I was able to skip a guitar class and move directly into the advanced level. I have received multiple guitar awards and participated in All-County Guitar for multiple years, beginning in middle school. I have also performed guitar in Washington, D.C., as part of the World Cultural Festival and performed with All-County Guitar.

Because I have spent years both learning from an experienced teacher and performing at an advanced level, I understand the challenges students face as they develop their skills. I aim to make lessons encouraging and approachable while still maintaining high standards and helping students make measurable progress.

Who My Lessons Are For

I work with students from beginner through advanced levels. I am particularly suited for:

* Beginners who are learning guitar for the first time
* Middle school students developing their fundamentals
* High school students who want to improve their playing or prepare for advanced classes
* Intermediate players looking to strengthen technique, music reading, rhythm, and repertoire
* Advanced students preparing for performances, auditions, competitions, or All-County-style ensembles
* Students who want to learn guitar while developing stronger overall musicianship

My goal is to meet each student at their current level and help them progress toward their individual goals, whether that means learning their first song, becoming more confident performing, preparing for an audition, or reaching an advanced level of guitar playing.
