About Kate
I am a PhD student in Climate Science at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. My research is on the evolution of storms, so I use a lot of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and calculus to describe the atmosphere. I love being able to apply my knowledge to the world around me, and I want to share that with students!
I majored in Physics in college, so I have a lot of experience working through tough problems. I have studied math through linear algebra, differential equations, and beyond. I recently worked for NASA as a graduate mentor to undergraduate students, helping them design and present original research. I have the experience to help you understand tough concepts.

I am happy to teach: algebra-based and calculus-based physics, trig, single- and multivariable calculus
Typically, students bring their homework or test prep, and we will do problems together. I believe that learning comes through experience, so if a specific topic is requested, I will prepare a short explanation and lots of practice problems. I am a big fan of visual explanations, so physics students, be prepared for lots of free body diagrams!
