About Angie
I began my tutoring services in high school, specializing only in mathematics. Throughout high school, I developed a passion for biology and decided to major in it for my undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. My bachelor's journey allowed me to hone my understanding and develop effective studying techniques to succeed in biology, chemistry, and other related disciplines. Likewise, I also improved my literacy skills in the process. Since I had a strong grasp of these subjects, I decided to continue my tutoring services through McGill University, where I became an academic tutor for freshman-year undergraduate students. With each student of mine, I found areas where I can improve my tutoring, which also allowed me to develop new approaches to tutoring and be more accommodating to the types of students I may encounter. I care about making sure each student actually understands the material, not just gets through the homework. I check in often to see what works and what doesn't, and I adjust my approach based on how each student learns best.

Each student has their own unique way of learning. As part of the onboarding process, I'd like to get to know my student first by assessing their level of understanding with the content, their learning and study style, and their goals for these lessons. Based on this information, I would design a personalized lesson plan for the student. Depending on the subject, I tend to emphasize the importance of practice problems and active recall to help these students succeed in typical mathematical and scientific disciplines. While these are my go-to methods, I often exercise other approaches as well - whichever would best suit the student.
