About Sharon

Professional and meticulous, with an OTB national classical Elo of 1373 and a chess.com blitz rating around 1500 — I've been playing since high school. Having faced the beginner struggles myself, I teach step-by-step and reinforce concepts through repetition, so they truly stick.

Before we dive into chess theory and practice, we'll spend your first lesson figuring out how you learn best, where your strengths already lie, and which gaps need closing — all tailored to your current level.

If you're an absolute beginner, that might mean starting with the fundamentals: how each piece moves, how the board is set up, and the core concepts that everything else builds on — check, checkmate, and stalemate, along with special rules like castling, en passant, and pawn promotion that often trip up new players.

If you've already got some experience, we'll skip straight past the basics and pinpoint exactly where your understanding breaks down — whether that's opening principles, tactical awareness, or endgame technique — so every lesson after this one is built around what you actually need.
