About Tom

I'm a qualified architect with a passion for empowering students and a proven track record in architectural design. Combining my academic achievements (first-class honors degree and distinction-level master's) with experience at a leading AJ100 practice in Manchester. I have also competed in numerous international architectural design and drawing competitions successfully having achieved numerous shortlisted entries in prestigious competitions.

Beyond design fundamentals, I hold a graphics qualification and possess a keen eye for visual communication. Through my education and professional experience, I've gained a deep understanding of what tutors and employers are looking for in strong architectural portfolios, having been involved in the architecture recruitment process at both sides of the interview table.

I'm also a proficient Revit user and can help you enhance your skills in this essential BIM software. Whether you're new to Revit or looking to enhance your modelling skills, I can equip you with the BIM knowledge to begin to use Revit as a design tool efficiently and creatively.

My commitment extends beyond simply providing instruction. I foster a supportive learning environment, acting as your architecture mentor throughout your academic journey.

About the lesson

I am a supportive patient person, in my lessons there are no bad ideas which is something I've picked up during my time in practice. I can help both undergraduate and master's level students with many of the skills required to be a successful architecture student from any and all of the topics below.

Core design skills:
I have practice based experience in key skills such as defining a brief, solidifying design concepts and understanding technical design.

BIM Modelling Skills (Revit):
With the best part of decade using Revit I can help you use this software creatively and efficiently as a design tool to maximise its output and assist with the core design skills you'll need as an architecture student.

Graphical Design and Presentation Skills:
I also have extensive experience and a keen eye for graphics to help with portfolio design and presentation boards. I have over a decade experience using Adobe Creative Suite to help you to define a narrative for your projects, and maximise the presentation of your designs.

My aim is to empower you to feel confident in your ideas and to help you stand out against your peers. Just come to me with an idea of where you feel I can help and we can tailor a plan to suit your needs.
