About Eileen

Hi, I’m Eileen, a current UChicago student and Berkeley admit with several years of experience helping students brainstorm, revise, and polish college application essays. I understand how stressful the application process can feel, so I focus on making each session clear, practical, and encouraging.

I specialize in helping students write essays that are both strategic and authentic. My goal is not to make every essay sound the same, but to help students express their own ideas with stronger structure, clearer reflection, and more memorable details. I can support students with Common App essays, supplemental essays, UC PIQs, activity descriptions, scholarship essays, and general application writing.

Students can expect honest feedback, careful editing, and a step-by-step process. Whether you are starting from a blank page or trying to improve a finished draft, I will help you understand what is working, what needs revision, and how to make your writing stronger while keeping your own voice.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Eileen, a current UChicago student and Berkeley admit with years of experience helping students with college application essays. My tutoring focuses on making essays clearer, more personal, and more memorable while still sounding like the student’s own voice.

In a typical lesson, we start by identifying where the student is in the process: brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, or final polishing. If they are starting from scratch, I help them choose a strong topic and build a structure. If they already have a draft, we work on clarity, organization, specificity, reflection, and sentence-level polish.

What sets me apart is that I combine honest strategic feedback with a supportive, voice-preserving approach. I do not write essays for students or force them into a generic “perfect college essay” style. Instead, I help them understand what their essay is really saying and how to make it stronger.

My lessons are best for high school students applying to college, especially those working on the Common App personal statement, supplemental essays, UC PIQs, activity descriptions, or scholarship essays.
