About Jay
I am a college sophomore, pursuing a career with youth. I have five years of volunteer experience working with children in various settings. I have three years of volunteer classroom experience, mainly working one on one with students. A majority of my experience is with the 5th-6th grade age group, however I also have experience with kindergarten through 7th graders.

I like to introduce the new topics in an exciting and engaging way before teaching the material. I always like to give students time to work on material on their own to ensure they feel confident in the topic. I have also had students teach me how to do a practice problem, giving them an opportunity to ask questions where they may not understand. This is also an effective way to help students in a testing environment if they struggle with test anxiety. Depending on the students needs this can be changed to help ensure the student succeeds. Every student learns differently and has specific needs, I am very flexible in my teaching methods to ensure the students needs have been met.
