About Katherine

This initiative begins with the suggestion of several children at the school where I work as a teacher assistant. On occasions I play music for children with disabilities, this music attracts other students who have asked me to be their music teacher or teach them to play guitar, so I put together a program aimed mostly at children and adults who think that guitar is fascinating and they would like to liven up parties, camps or playdates with their friends. I have been part of several bands with very different musical styles (Metal, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Latin) with Rock being my favorite! I currently belong to 3 bands and enjoy playing acoustic and electric guitar, and creating our own music.

About the lesson

We will start from the fundamentals and very basic knowledge about guitar playing. I'll make sure you get every lesson right before we move to the next one. Some of the topics we are going to learn are:
- Parts of the guitar and how they work
- Strings and Frets names
- How to tune the guitar
- How to read Chord diagrams
- First guitar Chords
- Basic Rhythm and Strumming
- First songs
- Fingerpicking techniques

These lessons are for anyone who has no idea how to start playing guitar and wants to find out if this is your new best hobby.
