About Benjamin

Soccer Coaching & Playing Background

With 20+ years of combined experience as a soccer player and coach, I bring a unique perspective to player development—one built through years of competing, learning, coaching, and experiencing the game at different levels.

I have 17 years of competitive playing experience, including elite youth soccer, high school varsity soccer, CIF competition, semi-professional soccer in the United States, and competitive soccer in Spain. I am also a licensed soccer coach, allowing me to combine my experience as a player with formal coaching education and a commitment to helping others develop.

My Playing Journey

My competitive journey began at the youth level. At age 14, I joined Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) at the Silver Elite level. At 16, I joined LA Galaxy at the Silver Elite level. One year later, my team moved up to the Gold Division, the highest level of competition within the league.

I continued playing at the high school varsity level, and during my senior year, my team competed in the CIF league, competing against some of the strongest high school soccer programs in California.

At age 22, I continued my playing career at the semi-professional level with Legacy FC in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). I later competed with Orange County FC (OCFC) in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).

My playing experience also took me internationally to Madrid, Spain, where I competed against reserve and development sides associated with Getafe, Alcorcón, and Leganés. Their first teams compete within Spain's professional football system, including La Liga, Spain's highest professional division.

These experiences exposed me to different soccer cultures, coaching styles, tactical approaches, training environments, and levels of competition.

My Coaching Approach

As a licensed coach, I believe player development is about much more than teaching technical skills.

A good coach should help players understand how to play, why they are making certain decisions, and how they can continue improving when the coach is no longer beside them.

My coaching focuses on developing players in several areas:

Technical ability — first touch, passing, receiving, dribbling, finishing, ball control, and 1v1 play.

Tactical understanding — positioning, movement, decision-making, attacking and defensive principles, and reading the game.

Physical development — movement, coordination, agility, conditioning, and preparation for the demands of competition.

Mental development — confidence, discipline, resilience, concentration, accountability, and responding positively to mistakes.

Character and leadership — communication, teamwork, respect, work ethic, and taking responsibility.

Developing the Complete Player

Every player is different. Some players need technical refinement. Others need confidence, tactical awareness, discipline, or a better understanding of their role within a team.

My responsibility as a coach is to identify where each player is today, understand where they want to go, and help create a path toward that goal.

Because I have personally experienced the progression from youth soccer to elite youth competition, varsity and CIF soccer, semi-professional competition, and international soccer, I understand that development is a process.

I know what it feels like to be the player receiving coaching, competing for opportunities, dealing with mistakes and setbacks, and trying to reach the next level. I bring those experiences onto the training field to help players become more confident, intelligent, technically capable, and complete soccer players.

Experience That Connects With Players and Families

For players, my goal is to create an environment where they are challenged, supported, and excited to improve.

For parents, my goal is to provide a coaching environment where their child is not only developing as a soccer player, but also learning important qualities such as discipline, responsibility, confidence, teamwork, and perseverance.

For clubs and organizations, I bring a combination of competitive playing experience, international exposure, coaching education, and a genuine commitment to player development.

For scouts and other soccer professionals, my playing background has given me firsthand experience with the demands and expectations of competitive soccer across multiple levels.

My Commitment as a Coach

My goal is simple: help every player become better than they were yesterday.

Development does not happen overnight. It comes from consistent training, honest feedback, discipline, repetition, confidence, and a willingness to learn.

I want players to leave each training session having learned something new, challenged themselves, and taken another step toward their goals.

Whether a player is just beginning their journey, competing at a high youth level, preparing for high school or college soccer, or pursuing opportunities at the semi-professional and professional levels, I believe every player deserves a coach who is invested in their development.

My experience as a player taught me the game. My experience as a coach allows me to teach it. My goal is to help the next generation take their game further.
