About Christine

Hello! My name is Christine and I am currently a student at Purdue University's main campus, majoring in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. I have always loved academics--so much so that I graduated high school with Top Ten Honors. I continued that same drive into university, and made my way onto the Dean's List. However, this love also came with its ups and downs. There were numerous classes, especially in university, that I struggled in. I had high-stress and test anxiety all the time, constantly worrying about my grades and academic career. I eventually decided to use the techniques I would apply on my students in tutoring on myself, and it worked. I finished off semesters with grades I was proud of, mentally and even managed to help some of my friends with those same concepts. For me, tutoring expands far beyond simply learning. It is truly a time where you can grow and grasp the idea, as you have the ability to be one-on-one with someone who knows the topic. It's a place to constantly ask questions and be wholeheartedly curious. I am excited to jump back into professional tutoring and cannot wait to work with you!

About the lesson

I firmly believe that each lesson should be based upon general learning techniques as well as ones tailored to the student. Having worked as a tutor all through high school, I have had experience with many different types of learners. Some of these students work best through a visual group lesson, while others prefer a one-on-one style teaching. Typically, I will set a plan according to a student's schedule that they have provided to me that works to push the student as well as be doable enough to remain encouraging within their preferred timeline. The plan will also be interactive to keep up the student's motivation by visually tracking progress and vocalizing goals for each session to ensure forward progress. For the education side of tutoring, in addition to my past experiences, I took Cognitive Psychology this past academic semester, a class that has better educated me in scientifically proven learning techniques and advice. This has proved to be beneficial to my tutoring techniques and I am excited to share them with new students. My lessons are for a wide variety of students. I tutor from young children all the way to high school seniors. I believe that all age and level groups can benefit from some style of tutoring, whether that be prepping for the next education level, help on a current subject, or lessons on a career interest.
