About Berta
I was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and moved to Australia when I was 12. I attended the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, where I was the Dux of the school and also won the John Hopkins prize as top music student. I did all my tertiary study overseas, at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. I am an experienced professional. I have won many prizes and scholarships, and have performed with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. I have competed in international competitions and regularly perform as a soloist and collaborative artist. I am flexible and can adapt to your level and way of learning. I learned from some of the best teachers in the world and would love to pass on what I know about technique and interpretation. I am most experienced in teaching advanced level but can also teach beginners of all ages. I teach in my apartment in Port Melbourne, but if your house is close, I could come to you. I am also an accompanist for Melbourne University, AMEB, and VCE.
