About the lesson
It’s important to me that the theoretical fundamentals are taught with relevance to creative intention, not just for the sake of knowing. Even the most basic music theory, musicological theory and songwriting techniques exist within creative context, so from the first lesson expression and intention will be interwoven with the avenues of musical principles. It’s best to start with basic music theory, before discussing writing and analysis, as both avenues of music can be considered ‘prescriptive’ whereas theory is ‘descriptive.’

About Taya
I am a professional singer/songwriter/producer who graduated from the Conservatorium last year. I record and play with my band as well as frequently engage in songwriting sessions with local artists, often focusing on lyricism and supporting musical ideas with harmonic and rhythmic unity. I have experience two years of experience tutoring both math and music.

I met Taya through University. I started that degree with the impression that he was the greatest songwriter I had ever met, and graduated it with that impression unchanged. He is one of the kindest most genuine people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet and talks about music with such fervour that I can’t help but be wrapped up in his excitement each time he unravels a new piece of his own, or describes a song he loves. Taya is patient, understanding, smart and above all, hilarious. He would make a great teacher for anyone willing to learn how to write impactful songs, perform better on stage, or increase their musical theory knowledge.
