About Richard
I’m a professional trombonist with degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music. I’ve performed internationally as a soloist, orchestral musician, and jazz artist, and have taught at the college level in both classical and improvisational settings. My teaching combines the highest level of artistry with a practical, supportive approach — whether you’re picking up your horn after years away or looking to unlock new creative potential. As a lifelong learner and multidisciplinary thinker, I approach music as both an emotional language and a structured system — blending technical clarity with expressive depth. I offer remote lessons designed to fit your schedule and learning style, with a focus on meaningful progress, self-expression, and artistic joy. Music has been a powerful force for healing and purpose in my life, and I’m passionate about helping others rediscover that same beauty in theirs.

I’m a conservatory-trained trombonist with years of experience performing and teaching at a professional level. I specialize in working with adult learners — whether you’re returning to your instrument after time away or exploring brass for the first time. Lessons focus on practical fundamentals, tone, technique, and musical expression, all at your pace. My goal is to make learning inspiring, clear, and deeply rewarding.
