• Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins, or was there a teacher who inspired you to learn it?

  Portuguese has always been part of my life it’s the language of my roots, my first stories, my dreams, and the way I connect with the world. But what pushed me to study it deeply and turn it into a professional tool was, without a doubt, the inspiration of teachers who showed me how powerful human and clear communication can be.

• Can you mention a real, historical, or fictional character who you believe is emblematic of the culture of this language?

  For me, Ariano Suassuna is a perfect example. He brought together simplicity and depth, emotion and humor, tradition and identity. I admire that combination, and I try to bring a bit of that spirit into my classes as well.

• Is there a word, phrase, tradition, or typical behavior from the language that you particularly appreciate?

  One of my favorite words is “saudade.” Not only because of its meaning, but because it carries emotion, memory, absence, and affection all at once. It exists only in Portuguese and it says a lot about who we are.

• Why is speaking this language important to you?

  Speaking Portuguese is more than communication it’s culture, identity, and connection. As a teacher and speaker, language is one of my most valuable tools to inspire, guide, and reach people.

• What is the biggest challenge when learning this language, and what helps overcome it?

  The biggest challenge is usually dealing with the grammar all the rules and exceptions. The best way to overcome that is through immersion: listening, speaking, and living the language daily. And, of course, having a teacher who explains things in a simple and practical way makes the journey much easier.

• Share a meaningful anecdote related to your language learning or your school days.

  I remember that in school I often participated in readings and small presentations. One day, a teacher told me: “Marcelo, you don’t just read the text you bring it to life.”That stayed with me. It was the moment I realized that language wasn’t just something to study; it was expression, art, presence. Maybe that was the first spark that led me to the communicator I am today.

• How did a trip or a specific travel experience help you improve your skills and knowledge of the language?

  Traveling abroad especially to Europe and Turkey strengthened my relationship with Portuguese even more. Being in situations where I was the one explaining my culture, teaching dance, and representing Brazil helped me notice subtleties in the language that we often overlook in everyday life.

• What makes you a “Superprof” in languages?

  I teach with intention and with soul. My approach blends technique, culture, emotion, and human connection. With my background as a teacher, speaker, and artist, I bring dynamic, engaging, and personalized learning experiences whether it’s Portuguese or samba.
  
  For me, teaching is about sharing stories, building bridges, and helping students feel truly capable. And that’s what makes all the difference.
