About Joyce
I am currently a student at Cornell University studying Human Biology, Health, and Society. Alongside my coursework, I work as a biology teaching assistant and have previous tutoring experience in high school in English and math. I am also involved in biomedical research, and have completed coursework in biology, biochemistry, general chemistry, and organic chemistry. These experiences have helped me develop strong communication skills to adapt explanations to different learning styles and academic levels while connecting classroom concepts to real-world applications.

My lessons are centered around helping students understand concepts rather than simply memorizing information, which is often a misconception about biology. As a tutor, I focus on breaking down complex biological and chemical processes into clear, intuitive steps and adapting my explanations to each student’s learning style. I also emphasize connections between concepts so students can build a stronger long-term foundation rather than relying on short-term memorization. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where curiosity is welcomed.
My lessons are ideal for middle school and high school students looking for support in biology, AP Biology, and/or related life science courses.
