About Alexandra
Hello! I'm an advanced flautist and saxophonist specialising in classical and jazz. I'm an experienced performer, having been guest soloist with Sheffield University Symphony Orchestra and principal flute and alto saxophone in multiple classical, jazz and show music ensembles. I hold a Music degree specialising in Performance from the University of Sheffield and I am currently Principal 2nd Flute in Crosby Symphony Orchestra.

My teaching style is personable, creative and effective and I tailor each lesson to the individual, whether that be working towards exams, performances or playing for pleasure. In my experience, students respond well to learning through practical demonstration, rather than theoretical explanation alone. Music is about the sound, after all, so I believe this is really important. I also encourage my students to listen to recordings of other musicians playing the music they are learning. Not only does this develop their listening skills, but it gives them something to aim towards and hopefully inspires their practice too!

Alexandra cares a great deal about getting the best out of her students. Since I met her at university, I have seen her play in a wide variety of events, including performances as the soloist for a symphonic orchestra.
