About Elsa

When I was still a German freshman in the university, I already began my tutoring career. I work as a teacher assistant in an after-school institution which provides supplementary courses and exercises. My job is to assess each pupil's level and monitor their learning process, analyzing each individual's strengths and shortcomings, sending feedback to teacher, and providing timely and necessary help.

Shortly after that, I was chosen to become a family tutor, teaching a Chinese girl German phonetics. She then went to Germany continuing her studies.

After graduation, I worked as an English tutor, specialized in English phonetics(pronunciation) and Children's English. I always carefully select the most original and interesting materials so as to design an engaging class.

In 2020, the Covid pandemic broke out, I went back home and became an on-line Mandarin teacher. Now I've been teaching Mandarin for 2 years and my students are from all around the globe. This is really a challenging job because each individual's background and learning condition could vary so much. I have to do differentiation teaching, but I love it! In fact it is exactly my multicultural students that have pushed me keep moving forward. They mainly come from English-speaking countries, some of them come from German, Austria,Swiss and other asian countries.

Dear students/ parents/ carers, this is Elsa, an energetic, fun, creative specialist in promoting Mandarin learning!! If you happened to see this ad and, are willing to spend a little time reading more, I bet you will not regret.

As a professional tutor, my "best match" are those who:
1. are kids( 4-8), live overseas and feel the need to learn their mother tongue or completely foreign kids who just feel curious about the language and would like to find more about it.
2. are middle school students, who already have some basic foundations, yet need extra help such as enlarging vocabulary, improving reading comprehension and/or writing skills.
3. are adults and have the need to speak Mandarin in daily settings. For example, in families, colleges, working circumstances etc. No matter how old you are, as long as you're in a beginner or intermediate level, you are welcome.

The tutoring method actually varies a lot depending on each individual's condition and objectives. But there are some basic principles:
1. Everybody needs to go over a language assessment before the courses start .
2. For young kids, the class always encompass lots of audio and video materials, games, as well as worksheets for them to finish after class.
3. For big kids, there will be a textbook which outlines all the important contents that they need to know, and the class will be more informative and knowledge-based. Some creative homework might also be issued.
4. For foreign adults, a detailed interview will be taken and a unique schedule plan would be designed. The class is tailor-made.

Since my college years, I have been working part-time job as a tutor. After graduation I received my Teaching Certificate and became a certified teacher. I am a native Mandarin speaker and received certificate in Mandarin proficiency Test.

It has been 3 years that I started my PROFESSIONAL tutoring career. Right now I am working as an on-line Mandarin teacher in a big company. The positive feedbacks from my clients are enormous. They are students, parents, and my colleagues. The reason why I poster this ad here is that I want to make better use of my mind and talent, in a more free way. I like to communicate with more people and offer my help and I know we could achieve our goals.
