About Ernesto Javier
My name is Ernesto Javier Fernandez Guillen. I am 26 years old. I was born on October 26, 1994 in Cuba. I currently have an elo of 2411, I hold a Grand Master norm and I was the winner of the 51st Edition of the Open Capablanca in 2016. I return to chess in 2012 after being away for 2 years due to personal problems....
I obtained my master fide title in December 2013 at the age of 19, in June 2014 I obtained my
First International Master norm at the XLIX International Tournament Capablanca in Memoriam Open 1 obtaining favorable results against strong players such as the international master Pablo Della Morte, and the current Grand Masters Luis Agüero and Ermes Espinosa. In August of the same year I obtained second place in the Giraldilla Cup with an average rating of 2346, adding 17 more points to my rating, at the end of the year, I participated in the IRT Copa UDI Chess Championship 2014 Ciudad Bucaramanga, where I got first place beating several international masters and the grandmaster or Carlos Hevia Alejano with whom I had a draw result in the same tournament. In 2015 he won the Havana Men's Provincial Final for the first time, with an impressive result of winning 9 games in a row, and earning a total of 56 points in the elo with which I reach 2400 for the first time. In 2016 I get first place in the 51 Capablanca Open Group Tournament, the greatest milestone of my career, in the same tournament I win my first grandmaster norm, and beating the Aramis grandmasters Alvarez and Ermes Espinosa, I also beat International Master Orlen Ruiz, and made several draws against strong players such as: GM Fernando Cuena (Pepe Cuenca), GM Juan Borges, GM Carlos Daniel Albornoz, GM Omar Almeida and IM Henry Soto .In the same year I won for the second time the provincial final of Havana First Category. In June 2017 I obtained my third international master norm completing my title at 22 years old. In 2018 I participated for the first time in the XXX Carlos Torre Repetto Magistral, occupying the 10th position by tiebreaks from 4th place, in said tournament I won against 2 strong Cuban grandmasters Luis Ernesto Quesada and Juan Carlos Gonzalez Zamora, and I obtained a draw against the highest elo I have faced, GM Benjamin Bok of 2643. In 2019 he participated in the VIII International and National Open Tournament of Mexico City Copa Independencia 2019 HIDALGO, where he got the 5th place, and played against 5 Grand Masters without losing against any and beating GM Kevin Cori. And in 2020 Given the pandemic situation, I have only participated in online tournaments and I have dedicated myself to training... I am very passionate about both playing and teaching.
