About Aashi

Hi! I am a passionate algebra tutor and currently work at Mathnasium and Gideon Math & Reading. There, I get to work with students to develop a solid foundation in math and instill confidence in their skills. In the last year, I have had the pleasure of working with a variety of students, and it is always a thrill to witness that “lightbulb moment” when a particular concept suddenly makes sense.

This coming fall, I will be attending the University of Texas at Austin, and I look forward to expanding my own knowledge while helping my students do the same. Through my education and experience as a tutor, I have learned the value of patience, support, and explanation.

I aim to provide a supportive and positive learning environment where students feel free to ask questions and struggle with concepts. I recognize that math can be intimidating at times, and I make every effort to break down concepts into manageable pieces and celebrate progress along the way.

Most importantly, I am a dependable, prepared, and dedicated tutor who is committed to helping each student succeed—not just in terms of grades, but in instilling confidence in math.

About the lesson

As a current tutor at Mathnasium and Gideon Math & Reading, I employ a customized, mastery-based approach to teaching algebra and geometry. I start by assessing each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning style, and then develop a systematic plan to address foundational knowledge before progressing to more advanced topics. I also focus on providing thorough explanations, step-by-step problem-solving, and guided practice to ensure that students grasp the “why” behind each technique, not just the “how-to.”

A typical tutoring session involves a brief review of previous concepts, followed by instruction on a particular topic (e.g., linear equations, systems, or factoring). We then practice solving problems together, gradually working our way up to more challenging exercises. I conclude each session with independent practice and a quick review to reinforce learning and monitor progress.

What makes me unique as a tutor is my patience, ability to break down complex concepts into simpler terms, and emphasis on instilling confidence and competence simultaneously. My tutoring services are best suited for students in middle school, pre-algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II who seek improved foundational knowledge, better grades, or preparation for advanced math classes.
