About Kayla
I have a master's degree in mathematics and am a friendly and engaging educator. I frequently had students from other classes come to my classroom for tutoring as they felt comfortable with me because I never judged them or made them feel less than. I have a passion for math and love making kids feel confident in their ability. I will meet you at your level and tailor lessons for your ability. I had MANY students say that I made them enjoy math for the first time in their lives and that they wished I could be their teacher next year. I love teaching the youth and making it fun (or as fun as it can be) Here is a sample video lesson of me teaching remedial students after school. With 8 years of experience, my classes were highly requested by students. Many of which were transferring from other teachers as I was described as engaging and easy to understand. I try to use plain language backed by mathematical vocabulary to make difficult information easy to understand. I reach students where they are and have worked with students with math difficulties my entire teaching career. I specialize in math for grades 6-11. Served as school math interventionist and designed successful intervention program. I have worked with students with IEPs, 504s and am currently obtaining my Gifted Teaching Certification.
