About Stephen

I am an experienced secondary school teacher with nearly 10 years of classroom experience, specialising in GCSE Business Studies. I am currently Head of Business Studies, giving me extensive experience teaching GCSE students, preparing them for exams and helping them achieve their potential.

Throughout my teaching career, I have developed a strong track record of improving student outcomes. I have particular experience in **drastically improving GCSE results within a relatively short period of time**, by identifying the specific areas where students are losing marks and focusing teaching and revision on the skills that make the biggest difference.

I understand that GCSE Business is not simply about knowing the content. Students need to be able to apply their knowledge to a business context, analyse information and develop well-structured evaluation in longer exam questions. Developing these skills is a key part of my teaching approach.

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs and goals. Whether a student is struggling to understand particular topics, finding exam questions difficult, or aiming to push towards the highest grades, I focus on identifying their weaknesses and providing clear, practical strategies to help them improve.

As a current teacher and Head of Business Studies, I have a detailed understanding of GCSE exam requirements and what examiners are looking for. My aim is to make lessons supportive and engaging while giving students the knowledge, exam technique and confidence they need to achieve their best possible results.

About the lesson

Lessons are tailored around the individual student and their goals. We will start by identifying areas they are finding difficult and then work through these in a clear and manageable way.

Depending on what the student needs, lessons can include:

* Explaining and reinforcing GCSE content
* Working through exam questions and past papers
* Improving exam technique and answer structure
* Developing stronger analysis and evaluation
* Practising longer 6, 9 and 12-mark questions
* Revising key topics and case studies
* Preparing for mocks and final GCSE exams
* Building confidence in areas where the student is struggling

I aim to make lessons interactive rather than simply talking through content. Students will have plenty of opportunities to practise questions, receive feedback and understand exactly how they can improve.

As a current teacher, I can also adapt lessons according to the student's current level and exam board, making sure our time together is focused on the areas that will have the greatest impact on their progress.
