About Pooja

My name is Pooja, and I am a Biology enthusiast and a student who recently completed Year 12 Biology. Throughout my Biology studies, I found the subject dense and difficult, but I loved every minute of it and as a result, 6 months post- writing the exam, my love for Biology has not diminished.
I attained a raw score of 38 for Biology, which was an 85% on the exam. This taught me just how nuanced the exam is and I am thoroughly confident in these nuances in the subject to help my students achieve their personal best.
More than anything, I prioritize the wellbeing of my students and aim to motivate them, providing not only tutoring but a friend to talk to as well.
I want to teach Biology because it is a thoroughly beautiful subject when taught correctly, and with inspiration. I do not want to encourage any negativity towards the subject because of its density but want to inspire progress through my teaching and help my students learn on an understanding-based level, not a concrete knowledge-based level. Knowledge is imperative to Biology, but more than that, a child's understanding overtakes this. In fact, I believe that understanding informs how well a student learns and knows the information.
I want to help all students achieve their goals, whatever they may be.

When I'm not preparing for exams, or studying, I like to paint, play music and watch movies!

About the lesson

I completed Year 12 Biology in 2022 and attained a score of 85% which translated to a study score of 38.
After the exam, I have thoroughly revised all my revision material and have determined some of the most effective ways to study Biology.
My class lengths will be 1 hour per week, and while I have little prior experience as a tutor, I have aided many of my peers in their Biology studies already and they have requested me to be their tutor.
I am able to be a casual tutor as well, providing lessons on a needs basis too.
Teaching Methodology:
I do not believe in a concrete or set approach to teaching Biology. Instead, I prefer to teach using adequate revision materials, targeted revision and exam questions to build experience and working and reworking answers to meet marking schemes each time. I work strongly to the VCE study design and work through diagrams and all areas and nuances of every concept to ensure my students understand concepts thoroughly before they can apply them. I provide question sets and homework (upon request). Students can contact me via email for any questions regarding Biology at any time and I aim to reply within 24 hours.

My lessons are for current VCE Biology students (Units 3 and 4 only).
