Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
My name is Matthew, I am British, and well accustomed to tutoring in the United Kingdom, and Alberta.
I grew up in Wales originally and moved to London, England, when I was around 4 as of academic scholarship offers. After this I spent the majority of my schooling in private education, achieving vastly above the expected level. Furthermore, I thoroughly enjoy sport, marine life, travelling and I believe there is much more to education and one's overall character/intelligence than being able to memorize a textbook. Private education vastly improved my skills in so many areas, yet many people forget each student is different, and needs specific care in order to be more confident and independent. For these reasons I believe I am well suited as a tutor, and am privileged to have received only positive feedback from past-students achieving goals they have set out, and more.

I take enjoyment in meticulously planning lessons, each different and specified to the student and their needs. I spent the majority of COVID tutoring online, and am more than comfortable with Zoom/Skype lesson planning at times that are most convenient from the comfort of your own home. I am a computer science major, so computing and math are my main avenues, yet I am highly passionate and currently studying sciences, English language and literature, as well as Geography, Anthropology, and others.
I have nearly 3 years of Tutoring experience, in the United Kingdom, and Canada.
A typical first lesson would include a brief period to get to know the student, what they aim to achieve, how they learn best, as well as all and any questions/concerns. I believe what sets me apart from the majority of other tutors is I believe a student's environment is everything, building confidence and character is just as important as reading two chapters in a book. I work hard to not only make sure my students understand the material and gain the confidence to tackle it themselves, but create a positive, fun learning experience that is well beyond reading off slides or just giving a student questions to work on. After the first meeting, I will be able to fully plan out a schedule and preplan lessons accordingly to best suit the individual. I take great time and care in doing this, being able to help and watch students grow in their avenues of interest is truly special.
