My personal approach to tutoring is identifying what the student understands about their current learning for which I will then identify gaps which we would go over in the lesson. Each student is different so finding their preference of teaching would be the first step. My main tutoring technique is to guide the student towards the correct answers and make sure they understand the underlying reasoning behind these answers which will better equip them to apply their knowledge to a variety of situations. (Very much necessary for exams!)
In high school I was selected to be a mentor and tutor for year 9-12 students which gave me an understanding of how I would like to tutor and what works best.
I am happy to tutor year 9-10 as well as those completing level 1-3 NCEA. I completed my high school education with excellence from level 1-3 NCEA studying classics, physics, biology, chemistry and calculus with my greatest strengths lying in classics, biology and chemistry.
Lessons can vary in time depending on what the student and parent would like and the lesson times may have to work around my work and uni schedule.
