About Minoli

Hi! I'm Minoli. I'm originally from Sri Lanka and am currently a PhD student in Mathematics at Adelaide University after receiving a scholarship to study in Australia.

I've always loved mathematics, and teaching it has been a passion of mine for many years. I enjoy helping students understand concepts that once seemed difficult and watching their confidence grow. I believe that with the right guidance, patience, and practice, anyone can become good at mathematics.

Before moving to Australia, I worked as a Lecturer in Mathematics at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in Sri Lanka, where I taught undergraduate mathematics. I now work as a Mathematics Tutor at Adelaide University, teaching tutorials and marking assignments for university students.

Whether you're preparing for school exams, studying engineering mathematics, or learning MATLAB, I'm here to support you every step of the way. My goal is to create a friendly and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and enjoy learning mathematics.

About the lesson

I believe that mathematics is best learned by actively solving problems rather than just listening to theory. In my lessons, I explain the underlying concepts clearly and then reinforce them with plenty of guided exercises. I encourage students to work through problems during the lesson so that they can build confidence and develop strong problem-solving skills. I also tailor my teaching to each student's learning pace and make sure they fully understand a concept before moving on.

A typical lesson lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours, depending on the student's needs and the topic being covered.

I am currently a PhD candidate in Mathematics at Adelaide University and have university-level teaching experience. Before moving to Australia, I worked as a Lecturer in Mathematics in Sri Lanka, teaching undergraduate mathematics. I offer tutoring in school mathematics, engineering mathematics, and MATLAB programming, and I strive to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building their confidence in mathematics.
