About Lydia
Over the years I have developed my interest in sketching and watercolours, with an affinity for portrait, landscape and various subjects of cultural heritage or significance.
More specific experience in visual arts and handcrafts includes:
costume design, textile-printing, vintage dress-making, recycled wearable textiles, felting, basic pattern construction, nuno-felt, design proposals and story-board creation, clay ornament painting, drawing, sketching, pastels, watercolour, calligraphy, printmaking, production poster design (theatre), collage, card design, figure illustration, and many more.

As a uni student, I know the importance of creative pursuits like art and handcrafts to extracurricular activity. Having explored many art forms over the years in both my studies and personal endeavours, I wish to pass on my passion, knowledge and skills in these areas to others.
My artwork has placed Finalist in the ACT Human Rights Commission’s Youth Art Contest and I have produced and sold the artworks and card designs for various fetes and other non-for-profit fundraising events. Further, I was awarded 2nd place for my costume entry at the Canberra Show's under the handcrafts sewing category. I achieved my Certificate II in Fashion Design and textiles (which counted towards my final Year 12 results).
While inspiration can be derived from seemingly endless sources, I believe much of our inspiration naturally comes from people, places, history, our environment, both man-made and natural environments, those stories we encounter - essential things in our world which evoke wonder. I invite my students to explore these from a unique angle.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I've known Lydia my whole life, and I've seen her talent for drawing grow from absolute basics, to some of the most detailed and beautiful drawings I've ever seen someone I know make. Lydia employs many styles, and has great focus. I would recommend her for advice on art work, as well as on any questions relating to drawing. If you want someone who really knows how to draw, don't go any further than Lydia.
