About Tanyka
I am a foundation phase teacher, recently graduated with a degree. I have had 4 years of practicals and recently visited the UK to teach at a school with children that have autism. I have had great feedback with the children being able to follow a routine, understand their work and complete the work that almost seemed impossible to them. I have a passion for teaching as well as children. I believe that teaching is more than a job, its a passion. You are a role model and as a teacher, you shape and mould their futures.

My teaching methods depends on their ability level. I always start off my lesson with an introduction. This is usually a song, poem, or slide shows I have made in connection with the theme and subject. I will have a class discussion once I have introduced the topic of the lesson to see what the learners know and understand about the specific topic. Concrete objects will be used in the introduction to help all learners understand further. I have then created work for the learners to complete individually at their tables to see how and what they understood and also where they will need further assistance. In many classes there are lower level ability learners, those learners will stay seated on the carpet, while the other learners complete their work, and get a further explination with more concrete objects other than just visual or auditory. For example; if it is mathematics, the learners will get counters or number cards and use their whiteboards to help them mentally and physically work the mathematics problem or sum out.

If you are unable to make a lesson, the lesson will need to be canceled within 12 hours and notice must be given. if you fail to give notice then you will only pay R100 (50% of hourly rate) for the lesson you missed.
