About Heena
Hello! I am Heena, a dental and public health professional. I formerly worked at the New York State Department of Health in Albany, NY. I was offered an academic scholarship at NYU for my Masters degree in Public Health. My academic background and credentials speak to my knowledge of biology and public health, but that’s not why you should choose me to be your tutor. You should choose me to be your tutor because of my ability to go beyond the textbook to understand how textbook concepts are applicable to real life. I am a dentist and have a good grasp of courses such as Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Microbiology etc. During my Masters program in Public Health, I studied courses such as Epidemiology and Biostatistics. My GPA in dental school and Masters program was 3.42 and 3.56, respectively. My goal is to help you master the topics you need additional help with. I am always reachable and responsive. My teaching style is practical and discussion-oriented. I will use your preferred textbook as well as resources of my own to prepare notes that will guide the discussion. These notes will be available to you prior to the session so you can get familiar with the content. During the session, you can ask me as many questions as you want until you feel that you have fully grasped the concept. I will also give you a short quiz comprising of 5 questions to further prepare you to tackle any questions related to the topic. I am certain that you will leave the session feeling confident and prepared.
I believe that just like our personalities, our learning styles are different and therefore, I am open to working with you at your pace and comfort. I am open to suggestions and to doing whatever helps us make our session more productive and fulfilling.
