About Robert
Since completing my BA Honours Degree in Product Design at Glasgow School of Art in 1998, I have worked across Europe as a Senior Product Designer for several well-known companies (Nike, Adidas, LVMH). I design and lead creative teams in footwear, accessories and branding projects for the fashion, sports and luxury sectors and have an interest in civic, social and ecological design. Now a Lecturer and Course Leader in Product Design and Innovation at the Glasgow School of Art, I lead students in design futures and technology projects which are complex (and fun). Passionate about learning, I have researched, developed and tested existing and updated teaching techniques to help students improve their work while enhancing their love of designing.

Robert's insight and knowledge in design has been invaluable to my daughter who is in S6 and hoping to study design. Not only does he have an in-depth knowledge of what is needed in an art portfolio, but his passion for art and design is infectious. I have been amazed by what my daughter has gone on to produce and she couldn't have done this without Robert's advice, enthusiasm and expertise.
Robert is an enthusiastic and encouraging design teacher. He shared valuable tips from his own industrial experience and design lecturer background which really improved my own design work. A good listener and really easy to talk to. Would highly recommend!
Fun, vibrant, encouraging and the best teacher ever - that’s how my 16 year old daughter described Robert.
Keen to go to art college, she was devastated to score a D in her Nat 5 prelim so we contacted Robert. Delighted to say she scored an A in her Nat 5 exam and is now doing brilliantly in her Higher course under Robert’s brilliant guidance.
As an absolute expert in his field, Robert knew exactly what examiners are looking for and was able to guide my daughter to enhance her skills. He did this by giving my daughter no pressure but lots of motivation. She loves art and design twice as much since Robert’s tutoring. His genuine love for the subject is infectious.
My neice is working on a portfolio for art college and Robert has worked wonders with it already.
For ambitious art students, Robert is 100% the go-to tutor. Contact him before he’s booked up for years!
