My teaching method is quite 'hands-on'. I believe that the best way to learn is by doing, in particular when it comes to visual art, and will tailor activities to best suite your skill level and goals. I am positive, always focused on improvement, and happy to work with someone at any stage of their artistic journey. I love visual art and want to share this passion with you.
Regarding visual art, I find it very beneficial for a potential student to bring examples of their past work to the first session. This is because, often, artists tend to repeat the same or similar mistakes consistently (one body part too large, warped perspective, incorrect proportions, e.t.c), and these issues can become more ingrained the more you repeat them. Seeing a few examples would help me identify what your specific problem areas are so we can focus on those.
This would be a great use of the FREE FIRST LESSON, to discuss your art, potential problem areas, and goals.
I also vary my teaching based on your end goal. Would you like to do realistic portraits? Cartoons or anime? Character or concept art? Landscapes, or something very abstract? I am happy to discuss your aims, goals, and interests.
I'd like to think that my main quality as a teacher is patience. I will never get irritated at explaining something a different way. We can take as long as you need, I will try my best to explain every concept in the best way and to make sure you're 100% on track for this exciting artistic journey!
Request a free first lesson with me - you have nothing to lose! No commitment or pressure, just have a chat about your art and future :)
I am a third year uni student who has been practising digital and traditional art for nearly a decade. I'm experienced in areas from anatomy, perspective, colour balance and more.
My artistic ability is most evident by simply looking at my portfolio: lawrenceparsons(dot)crd(dot)co

Lawrence's art is amazing!
Lawrence is one of those people who really love to share their knowledge and skills. Born teacher. Super talented, and knows how to translate that talent into tips and feedback and guidance that makes it look easy. Funny, friendly, patient.
Lawrence has an incredible range of knowledge and a strong desire to help others. He is remarkably patient and careful to explain himself in a way that makes sense without making others feel diminished or bad in any way. He is very intelligent and has received recognition and achievement in his field!
Lawrence is a talented artist and good teacher. He’s friendly and excited about art and this comes across in his teaching style. I worked with him in person a few weeks ago and it was great, we did some drawing exercises and he left me with resources and some specific tasks as ‘homework’. I was also missing some specific materials so he even let me borrow his stuff. He shared his own experience and common mistakes beginners make and I think it helped me a lot.
