About Ann Yi
Having grown up loving anything creative from art & design to cooking and baking, I know what it's like to take something you're passionate about and have to apply it to an academic setting. It can often be difficult to accept criticism on your own work, especially when it's so personal, which is where I come in. Although challenging at times, being able to understand and evaluate your own work can help you grow as an artist and person overall. I believe talent is only one part of the puzzle and that passion and commitment can get you very far in life. Evaluation shouldn't be a scary part of the creative process, but a great tool for students to use to grow and develop as artists, which is why I think it's important to have an individual whom you can talk to about your thoughts. As a tutor and a person who has experience teaching in the creative industries, I am always eager to support others in their own journey.

From S1 to S6, I am here to guide students, whether that's through practical art skills or portfolio/exam paper guidance. With expertise in tutoring Art & Design across Secondary and Higher Education within the SQA system, I recognise how important and challenging it can be for young students to reflect on and analyse their own work and others. This is also personal to each individual, making it difficult to teach in class, which is why I offer a one-on-one lesson, where I tailor and guide students in the process. From building confidence in talking about their own work to developing new ways of critically analysing others' work, I provide support in the areas where students often lose marks in the creative arts. As well as the written, I can review and support them when putting their portfolios together, providing them with my own knowledge and experiences, having worked in the creative industries and gone through the process myself.
