About Shreya

Shreya Bhattacharyya is a Mumbai-based vocalist hailing from Kolkata, known for her distinct approach to singing that blends soul, experimentation, and depth. Largely self-taught, she earned a full-ride scholarship to Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, where she immersed herself in contemporary music—exploring genres like jazz, R&B, soul, and beyond.

Over the years, Shreya has trained under renowned global musicians including Natalie John (NY), Veronica Nunes (Brazil), Carolina Calvache (NY), Karina Colis (Mexico), Parker McAllister (Brooklyn), and Steve Zerlin (Washington D.C.), all of whom helped shape her unique vocal language.

Currently, she is experimenting with diverse sonic textures and original compositions in collaboration with her musical partner and bassist Avishek Dey, building a sound that is rooted in improvisation and authenticity. The duo has performed at notable festivals such as the Colombo Jazz Festival, Hyderabad Jazz Festival, Galle Literary Jazz Festival, and The Great India Story, among others.

Shreya has also shared the stage with stalwarts like Louis Banks and Ranjit Barot, and has collaborated with acclaimed artists including Darshan Doshi, Rhythm Shaw, and more.

Equally passionate about teaching, Shreya has cultivated a strong foundation as a vocal coach. She has worked with celebrated artists such as Kanika Kapoor, Devendra (Coke Studio India), Rajan Batra (Yellow Diary), and Gurashish Singh (YouTube Artist). Her student base spans India, the USA, London, and Dubai, and includes aspiring professionals as well as established performers.

In addition to live performance and teaching, Shreya is actively involved in recording projects, lending her voice to jingles, Bollywood scores, and independent productions. She is currently working towards her upcoming debut album with her band, slated for release next year.

About the lesson

My classes are rooted in fun, application-based exercises designed to help students grow into confident and expressive vocalists. Every activity is carefully crafted to build not just technical ability, but also musical awareness and personal style—supporting the journey toward becoming a well-rounded professional.

Exercises and assignments are tailored to each student’s unique progress, ensuring that they are challenged at the right pace in every step of the process.

Weekly critical listening sessions are an integral part of my curriculum.

These sessions help refine the ear, deepen understanding of tone, texture, and interpretation, and are conducted thoughtfully based on each student’s needs.

And that’s just the beginning.

From vocal technique and performance readiness to creative expression and studio prep, the classes aim to offer a holistic, immersive experience and lot more.
