About Rina

Doctor of Physical Therapy & Senior Lecturer offering supportive, evidence‑based physiotherapy tutoring for students and clinicians

About Me
I’m Dr. Rina Pandya, a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) with over 26 years of international clinical and teaching experience across the USA, UK, and Oman.

I currently teach at UWE Bristol and am the founder of Physiotherapy Online LLC, where I design CPD courses for physiotherapists worldwide. My teaching spans musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neuroanatomy, pain science, vestibular rehabilitation, and clinical reasoning.

Students describe my teaching as clear, structured, and supportive, with a strong emphasis on helping them understand why a condition behaves the way it does — not just what to do.

My Teaching Approach
I combine academic rigour with a friendly, approachable style. My sessions are:

1. Evidence‑based and clinically grounded
2. Visual and interactive, using diagrams, schematics, and clinical frameworks
3. Case‑based, helping you apply theory to real‑world scenarios
4. Student‑centred, paced according to your learning needs
5. Confidence‑building, especially for exams, OSCEs, and clinical placements

Whether you’re struggling with neuroanatomy pathways, MSK differential diagnosis, or understanding pain mechanisms, I break complex concepts into simple, digestible steps.

Who I Teach
I support:

1. Undergraduate physiotherapy students - Yr1,2 ,3
2. MSc physiotherapy students
3. International physiotherapists preparing for UK/US practice
4. Clinicians seeking CPD or advanced reasoning skills
5. Students who prefer visual learning and structured explanations

What Makes My Teaching Unique
1. Dual academic + clinical expertise
2. International practice across three healthcare systems
3. Creator of CPD courses taken globally
4. Strong focus on clinical reasoning and differential diagnosis
5. Warm, encouraging teaching style that reduces overwhelm
6. High‑quality visuals for neuroanatomy and MSK concepts

Lesson Format
Sessions can include:

1. Topic‑focused teaching (e.g., cervical radiculopathy, lumbar spine DDx, vestibular rehab)
2. Exam preparation, placement assistance
3. Case discussions and clinical reasoning practice
4. Support with assignments, presentations, or understanding research
5. CPD‑level advanced tutorials

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I started teaching about 18 years ago. I taught face-to-face seminars for CPD during this time. I was treating patients and developed specialised clinical skills. Since 5 years, I have been working as a senior lecturer at the University of the West of England, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I hold a clinical doctorate in Musculoskeletal. Hence, anatomy in general is my forte, along with MSK cases. I also teach respiratory, geriatric, cardiac, and neurology topics as well. I teach CPD topics on Physiotherapyonline.net. Pediatrics and sports rehab are not the subjects I usually teach.
  • Did you have any role models, a teacher who inspired you?

My role model is any physiotherapist who practises with clinical reasoning based on evidence- based practice.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor should be a good listener, identify weaknesses, and customise teaching suitable for each student. Simplifying complex concepts explain with case studies is very important. I refer to the rubric and the marking scheme to help my students excel in their exams.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

We were once provided with a case study and asked to create a treatment protocol. As it turned out, there were 20 different approaches in a group of 25. The lesson learnt was that every physio will solve a case in a different way, but the outcome is ultimately in the patient's benefit and rehabilitation goals
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

No two patients or case studies are the same. It is challenging as well as interesting to create a custom plan. Similarly, every student and their learning techniques are unique. Hence, customising teaching to learning preferences is challenging.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of the subject, or something completely different?

My passion is to develop a generation of " thinking and reasoning" physiotherapists. Following a cookie-cutter approach or impersonal treatment is a concept I discourage my students from following in their academic and clinical scope.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions:-P)?

I believe great teaching is a partnership. Over the past two decades, I’ve supported physiotherapy students and clinicians across the USA, UK, and Oman — and I maintain a 95–98% success rate with learners who engage in balanced collaboration. When we work together, you’re not just memorising content; you’re developing the clinical reasoning, confidence, and clarity needed to excel in physiotherapy practice.

What sets me apart is the combination of academic expertise and approachable, supportive teaching. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Senior Lecturer, I bring evidence‑based depth, structured explanations, and high‑quality visuals. As a mentor, I bring patience, encouragement, and a genuine commitment to your progress.
