About Lori
Guitar teaching is part of a seven-year tutoring career during which I have worked with 315 students, from complete beginners to more casual players wanting to improve specific songs. My own musical background includes years of informal performance and self-taught learning, which shapes my practical, results-focused teaching style. I am encouraging and down to earth in my approach, believing steady, achievable progress works far better than an intimidating, overly technical curriculum for most learners. Many students arrive simply wanting to play a handful of favorite songs well, and I structure lessons around exactly that kind of practical goal.

My guitar lessons focus on practical, achievable progress from the very first session, ensuring students can play a simple recognisable song within their first few lessons rather than spending weeks on isolated technical drills. Chord changes and strumming patterns are taught through repetition tied directly to real songs, since practising within a musical context builds both technique and motivation simultaneously. I keep explanations short and immediately followed by hands on practice, since long verbal instruction tends to lose focus quickly during guitar lessons specifically. Short instructional video clips are shared after lessons, giving students a clear reference for tricky chord transitions during home practice sessions.
