About Emily
I've been teaching Drama and Acting for more than 19 years, working with students from KS3 all the way through to A Level. I spent most of my career as a Head of Drama at a high performing secondary school, supporting hundreds of learners each year and helping them achieve results consistently above national averages and supporting students to pursue careers in the performing arts industry. I've also worked as a GCSE Drama examiner, which gave me a clear understanding of what examiners look for.
Alongside classroom teaching, I've delivered one-to-one and small-group tuition, including extensive work with SEND learners who benefit from clear structure, gentle pacing and personalised strategies. I'm trained in safeguarding, hold an Enhanced DBS, and have a calm, supportive approach that helps students feel safe to ask questions and take risks in their learning.

I teach in a calm, structured and supportive way, breaking down tasks clearly so students understand how to improve. My lessons focus on building confidence, strengthening written exam skills, and helping students express their ideas with clarity and independence. I use step-by-step modelling, guided practice and personalised feedback, adapting my approach to each learner's pace and needs.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes with a clear structure: a quick check in, focused teaching input, guided practice, and time for review and next steps. For written exam students, I include targeted strategies, mark-scheme guidance, and practical techniques for improving responses.
I'm a qualified teacher with almost 20 years' experience teaching Drama and English across KS3, GCSE and A Level. I've led a Drama department, taught English Literature, supported SEND students and worked as a GCSE Drama examiner, giving me deep insight into what examiners look for and how students can achieve higher grades.
My lessons are ideal for KS3, GCSE and A Level students, including those preparing for practical acting exams and LAMDA. I am experienced in supporting anxious learners who benefit from clear explanations, gentle pacing and a calm, encouraging teaching style.
