I am currently studying to become a registered nurse and working to receive my CNA. I’ve participated in tutoring other kids who needed help throughout high school. I was involved in HOSA and have also done volunteer tutoring for kids K-11.

I usually like to meet or speak to the parent(s) and/or the student(s) to determine if the child is a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner. If this is unknown I’ll try different methods to help that be determined. I will then ask what part of the subject does he or she struggle with the most (vocabulary, certain lessons, concepts, etc.). If the child simply doesn’t understand any of the material I tend to wipe a clean slate and try to start for the beginning. I’m very patient so if the student needs a break, continues to not grasp the concept, or begins to shows signs of being overly stressed will politely ask if they would like to move forward onto a different section if possible and return to the previous topic when comfortable.
