About Jamie

I am an Early Years Educator that Specialises in Play Based English learning.
I completed my Tesol focused on YL (Young Learners) and went on to do further personal study.
- University of Sheffield - Exploring Play: The Importance of Play in Everyday Life.
- British Council - English in Early Childhood.

I have been teaching for the past 5 years to this specific age group, and I have privately taught well over 50 students, been actively engaged with 50+ families, and spent time in 70+ homes in Hong Kong on a fully booked schedule.
My students have come from Local Public schools, International schools, through to Private Colleges.

About the lesson

The kids call me Mr Jamie.
I have been an Early Years Educator specialising in Phonemic development for the past 5 years in Hong Kong. Soon to be residing in Victor Harbor/ Adelaide in April 2021 with my family of four.
I have successfully worked with hundreds of children and families to equip their children to confidently communicate in English, and start their reading journey through to proficiency.

My sessions are for students ages 3 - 7 years who may have English as a second language or who may need extra assistance in reading, writing and overall English communication.

From current research, Play is more than random movements and gestures. It is the VERY NATURE of HOW CHILDREN LEARN

/ Session Dynamics /
- My Sessions utilize your child's interests, so our interaction is meaningful and relevant to the child.
- My English Through Play (ETP) approach, is adaptable and flexible to your child's needs.
- My Active Phonics Pathway (APP) utilizes your child's gross motor skills, balance and spatial awareness and combines it with phonemic recognition.
- Your child will begin "Blending" and will be able to read words confidently.
- My Learning Pathway integrates Phonemic Awareness and Sightword Knowledge to build a strong literacy foundation.

Covering 60 minutes. Broken down into smaller segments for children.
- Engage Activity
- Storytime
- Child Led activity or guided activity. (Fine motor, vocab building, conversational skills)
- APP (Active Phonics Pathway)
- Blending (Short Vowels, Long Vowels, Consonant Blends, Letter Combinations - The Level depends on your child's assessment conducted in the Free Trial)
- Sightword acquisition and practical application in sentences.

I offer a Free Trial that is 45 mins in length. Here I can meet and discuss with you (parent/caregiver) about your child's English development, and after assess their communication abilities through some games and activities.
