About Lottie

Once upon a time, there was a little girl called Lottie, who had blonde curly hair and green eyes. She lived in a town called Guildford, just south of the big city known as London. She lived with her Mother and their three cats and was surrounded by happiness and love. As Lottie grew older she had various jobs, all revolving around childcare because she knew that was where her skills and passion lay.

Lottie’s first childcare position was in 2004 when she had a sole charge position for 3 children under the age of 7. Since then she has Nannied or Babysat in addition to a variety of other roles including as a Support Worker for Social Services, Teaching Assistant, and Special Needs Carer. No matter the role, Lottie uses her imagination to entertain children, play games, read stories and all the time keeping them safe and happy. She has also spent days and nights working for families on an on-call basis. Many of these families enjoyed the fun yet professional way she interacted with their children so asked her to come back.

After completing a PGCE with QTS in 2009, Lottie went on to become a qualified teacher and is qualified to teach all subjects to children from 4 - 11 years old. She specialised in SEN education with her first year of teaching taking place in a school for non-verbal children with complex learning difficulties.

Having fallen in love with a Canadian, the next chapter took Lottie to the bright lights of Toronto, Canada where she nannied part-time in addition to a full-time job recruiting teachers to join the education reform in Abu Dhabi.

The little girl grew up into a confident woman who enjoys setting herself challenges. These characteristics led her to spend time teaching and travelling in India and Africa. The first of such trips led Lottie to set up a non-profit organisation upon her return to life in England because she knew she could do something to help others. This opened up doors for a 3-year stint in South Africa - one year of which was spent managing volunteer community development projects in Zululand. She then slowly travelled her way around the perimeter of the country in a caravan before camping through Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Botswana.

In the most recent chapter of her life, Lottie returned to England where she now lives on a narrowboat with her boyfriend and dog. From here she continues to manage the social enterprise with education placements in rural South Africa and offer online business development and coaching for the courageous souls who are living life to the beat of their own drum.

Now Lottie is looking to get back into working with children themselves rather than via a managerial/office-based position. She is excited to be tutoring children in Maths, English, and Science and finding a way to make learning fun, accessible for all.

Lottie has grown from being a little girl with blonde curly hair and green eyes to a woman with less blond, still curly hair and green eyes who has developed an array of skills through her varied experiences both at home and abroad. She still has a huge passion for children’s learning and equality in the classroom and from this has come a passion for working with children, establishing a relationship and supporting their development.
