Educate = bring forth Regardless of age, we all have latent potential to express. The beauty of piano is its accessibility. Play a note. Play a second one. A third. All of a sudden you have a chord

About Alon
Though I have studied music at university level, I am self-taught for the most part.
I've been composing for fifteen years
I play my own compositions with a quintet - music that is jazz-infused funk and soul with progressive and hip hop vibes.
I have a unique style of teaching, grounded in empathy and reception of my students, plus the ability to say what is needful when it is needful.
I am a warm-hearted individual to whom many people gravitate - student or stranger - and I very much look forward to taking on new projects in the form of fostering students in their capacity to accompany, improvise and play soulful music, whether of their making or anyone else's music they are passionate about.

Every student is unique, therefore I meet each individual where they're at and tailor my lessons to them accordingly.
Lessons can take many a form. Theory, implementation of practice. Listening to inspiring music. Simply chatting about what inspires my students. Or, knuckling down with scales, improvisational language and the like.
My approach is not to bombard students with rules. Rather, it is to give them the tools to be able to express themselves from within. After all, nobody cares to hear a regurgitation of what everyone else does. That's not personal expression. That's trying to fit into the mold someone else created.
My biggest strength when it comes to teaching is my capacity to observe, listen and provide warm, constructive insights as to how my students might enhance their playing,
Jazz is not about playing the sheet music written before you (though this helps). Jazz is about bringing forth one's own innate talent and developing the capacity to express it fully on one's own terms.
With me, though there will most certainly be progress aplenty, no lesson will ever be the same.
I teach all levels and ages, My greatest strength - fine-tuning a student's innate capacity for self-discovery and expression through considered feedback based on my observations,.
