I have a sincere desire to see students reach their full potential and believe that with practice and hard work anyone can learn anything. I am passionate about creating lifelong learners who have a growth mindset. While working with me you will feel supported academically and cared about on a human level. My lessons are individualized to the student’s needs. In mathematics I take a student centered approach that is focused on discourse, visual models, and conceptual understanding. I focus on building conceptual understanding with adding and subtracting first, and then work on applying that to higher levels of problem solving.
In reading I focus on foundational skills first (phonics, phonemic awareness and fluency). Once a student has a good foundation, I move onto building comprehension skills while reviewing decoding strategies as needed.
